We're BUILDING COMMUNITY

THE RED FEATHER LAKES COMMUNITY LIBRARY IS GROWING TO MEET YOUR DEMANDS
Over 80 percent more people use the Library since the Red Feather Mountain Library District was formed in 2000. Computer use is up 250 percent and our very successful Book Club, Story Hour and other programs are meeting in increasingly crowded facilities.

To meet this growing demand for service, the Board of Trustees plans to add on to the current 1839 sq. ft. building. This addition will more than double the library's square footage to 3163 sq. ft. (originally planned at 3879 sq. ft. but changed to fit county requirements) and add space for new materials for children and adults, a meeting room to seat 60 people, storage(and future expansion room), offices and work space. The addition will also include a small art gallery named for Ruth Kevan who contributed so much to the library and community. The meeting room, which will be equipped with modern multi-media equipment and comfortable seating, will be named for the Stenzel family, enthusiastic supporters of the library since it was organized in 1969. The room will be available for library programs and for community members during and after regular library hours for meetings and events.

The addition is estimated to cost $260,000 to build and furnish and a fundraising campaign is underway. Over $140,000 has been raised so far from private donors. The Stenzel family has offered to match new donations up to $25,000 during the next year, effectively doubling private donations. Grants applications are outstanding. Construction is scheduled to begin in Summer, 2004.
